There are several factors that effects production of work
quality at a work place. One of the most important factors for good
productivity is a happy worker. In a
work place no two people are alike, every person’s personality dimensions
differ from another, people believe that they can control the events that
effect them this is known as locus of control, based on this the workplace
determines an employment management strategy to help the employees gel with
each other to hold good team work.
Studies state that most of the time the salary of an employee is enough to
keep him working for an organization, however work for money does not give 100
percent production. An employee has to
be motivated enough to work better and produce quality work.
Motivation is a person’s internal disposition to be
concerned with positive and negative incentives or an anticipated reward.
Atkinson’s and Mc Cleland’s theory of needs talks about three basic needs of an
employee. Need for achievement, need for authority and need for affiliation.
Every employee has a combination of these needs these needs help an employee
move ahead with regard to his career.
In a workplace people learn to adapt and take on roles, if
the work environment is stressful then it has an impact on the worker as well.
Take for example: A Fresher or an
inexperienced person has newly joined a firm; he is directly instructed to work
without getting to know his environment. He might just end up feeling
catastrophic with his work; he may get stressed and would not be able to
co-ordinate. On the contrary if he is welcomed
with a good orientation about the company and its working, well introduced to
his co-workers, he might feel at home and begin to adapt to the work place more
easily.
“All work and no play make jack a dull boy” is an important
proverb to be followed at a workplace. If the employees have no fun once in
awhile, work gets very mundane and irritating and can effect production. The HR
and the management take on creative roles to make the work place fun. A few
activities like quizzes and fun games or celebrations at a workplace make the
environment fun to work at. With social media now taking the place of other
basic mediums such as mails, there is more activity online. Such as an admin
would post pictures of an event on Facebook and tag the members in the picture,
the members who view it like comment and share the picture and spread happiness
through socializing.
A happy worker does not have to an extrovert he can be a
friendly project manager, a helpful boss or an understanding HR lead,
these people hold a relaxed atmosphere understand their team members or
co-workers and make sure that all members work in a synchronized
manner.
A good day for any worker starts with a good greeting,or a smile. When
we greet each other it gives a positive feeling. The body language of
being greeted lets one know if he the other person is happy to work with
him or not.
The catogories of people we work with is also a noted factor. A person
who is cheerful and happy go lucky spreads positive vibes and makes even
a dull jack work more lively. The humors ones can turn any table over
and make you laugh at even at critical points. The creative ones will
make you think, they have the capacity to unwind fantasies. The serious
one will only make you reach your goal of achievement faster.
We can have a busy schedule for the entire month, at the end of the day
all workers have to produce good end results. leisure is a very
important key, because besides having work skill sets every person has
talent as well. If the talent is not explored it just stays hidden in a
dusty lamp.
An office with just four walls and 60 work stations on a floor would
make a person feel dull, since employees spend a large chunk of their
working in their office,at their desks, so you should try to make the
office look as friendly and appealing as possible. If your create a
friendly and comfortable atmosphere for your employees, then they will
be more eager to work. Posters, cartoons, creative work areas make
people feel lively.
Employees must have good space to walk and breath otherwise they are
going to feel like crammed sardines in a tin. Make sure that the
temperature in the office isn't set too hot or cold, employees won't
feel motivated to work if they are going to turn into icecubes
similarly, if it is too hot they may just want to run around like the
room has been set on fire. Good amount of fresh air and lighting is very
important. Keeping the environment more casual is important as well,
relaxing furniture around the office tells the employees that they can
walk around and stretch if they have been rooted to their desks for too
long.
Encourage people to make their work space more lively and comfortable
for themselves. Instituting casual dress codes once a week makes an
employee happy as many would like to be in clothes that comfort them.
Activities that involve a creative dress code should be encourged once
in a while, it is pleasant to see people walk in nice, creative attires.
For example: celebrating ethnic day at office, or perhaps have a fancy
dress day
Recognize your employees as a group. Taking the time to let your team
know that they are doing solid work as a unit, and show that you
appreciate their efforts at all times. Taking just a few minutes out of
your day to praise your employees for good team work can motivate them
to work much harder.
Reward your employees for hard work. Setting up a system of rewards is
an excellent way to motivate your employees. Whether you set up a
contest to see who can accomplish something the fastest on a certain
day, or if you have a competition to see who can generate the most
revenue by the end of the month, any contest that has a reward, even if
it's silly, will keep your employees motivated to produce solid work.employees get too busy to take the time out and get to know the other employees. In order to develop a stronger relationship with your employees, organised fun activities once a month or have event that can involve all and make the environment enjoyable.
Having a few social events on the calendar will help people in an office get to know each other. People will be much more excited to come to work and to do their work if they are friendly, or even friends, with their co-workers.
Having lunch with your coworkers helps people feel less isolated during lunch time it also helps to get to know each other better. Play cricket or football- these games are fun and many enjoy playing them
This is a great way for employees to bond, more over it instills a sense of team spirit, after working together as a part of a different kind of team. Bonus points if you can play against other companies or branches of your department.
Happy hours for an employe to relax and laugh after work. This may be organized by anyone.
At the end of the day a motivated, happy worker is a productive worker. If an employee is motivated enough, has a good environment to work in and he is comfortable, he will make sure to give his best and produce good results.
A happy manager, inspires his team to work, a motivated team, inspire their co-workers to work, an individual feels like giving his best. With the best end results we have happy and satisfied customers.
Motivation is the key for good production.
